Therapeutic Approach

Using a primarily person-centred approach, I help clients address their issues and apply elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to support positive change in their thinking and behaviour. The process is a collaborative effort between client and therapist, where the focus is on finding the best way forward to support the client in recognising and managing their particular difficulties.
It is my aim to realise improvement as efficiently as possible, so I frequently review client progress to ensure we are on the right path together. I believe therapy should end when sufficient benefit has been gained. Some clients find they are ready to leave therapy after four to six sessions. Others feel the need to work on their issues a little longer. The ultimate goal is for the client to become their own therapist.
